Join me on a quick journey back in time.
TL;DR
I picked up creating games again. Gathered friends. We started big. Failed quick. Started fresh. Failed harder. And eventually disbanded.
BUT I learned a shitload, pulled myself together and started again. This time successfully 🎉
It is the year 2017 when I decided I wanted to pick up creating games again.
I was excited! Until I remembered how bad my coding skills are..
This is when I talked to some friends and asked if they wanted to start something big together. We were all excited and had big plans.
Let’s create a story driven fantasy cyberpunk dystopian RPG with detailed worlds (YES, worlds!), great characters, 3 acts, and one dramatic bonus 4th act.
Sounds all too familiar? Great, you’ve already been through that shit. If not, be prepared for it 😄

To cut to the chase: the project was too big but we realized it. So we switched to starting with a smaller project. Copy a game. Just do something.
We killed our big cyberpunk fantasy RPG idea and said we’re going to save it for later.. Our new idea was to copy Super Smash Brothers. Just some jumping characters which can shoot each other.
Well, we couldn’t scope enough. We didn’t want to limit our creativity. That again led to a way to big project. We got discouraged and started working less and less. Meetings were becoming more rare. Our motivation disappeared. In the end, we quit without even talking about it.
I couldn’t stop though!
It’s my passion to create something from a single idea in my head.
And this is why I continued working on my own with a tool I actually mastered: RPG Maker MV 🤓
